The Mission

his mission

Muhammad (peace be upun him) defended human rights for males and females, young and old, regardless of social status. He established a set of sublime principles; a prime example being in the speech he (peace be upun him) delivered during his farewell pilgrimage wherein he (peace be upun him) declared strict prohibition of transgression against people's lives, property and honor.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upun him) elevated the importance of morality in human life. He (peace be upun him) called for good manners, honesty, loyalty and chastity, and strengthened social bonds such as being dutiful to parents and relatives while always putting into practice what he preached. He (peace be upun him) prohibited and warned against such negative behaviors as lying, envy, betrayal, fornication and disrespect of parents, and he (peace be upun him) treated problems stemming from these diseases.

Muhammad (peace be upun him) came with a revelation from Allah, presenting a religion compatible with human nature – one satisfying the needs of the soul as well as those of the body, and establishing a balance between worldly deeds and those done for the Hereafter.

Muhammad (peace be upun him) presented to the world a perfect model of brotherhood among human beings. He (peace be upun him) taught that no race is superior to another, for all are equal in origin and equal in their responsibilities and rights. One's degree of faith and piety is the only criterion for preference. His companions were given equal opportunities to belong to and serve the religion.

He (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) was Abul-Qasim, Muhammad ibn `Abdullah ibn `Abdul-Muttalib ibn Hashim ibn `Abdi Manaf ibn Qusayy ibn Kilab ibn Murrah ibn Ka`b ibn Lu'ay ibn Ghalib ibn Fihr ibn Malik ibn an-Nadhr ibn Kinanah ibn Khuzaymah ibn Mudrikah ibn Ilyas ibn Mudhar ibn Nizar ibn Ma`add ibn Adnan. This is the consensus of the scholars, who also agreed that Adnan was the descendant of Prophet Isma`eel (peace be upon him).
His Names
Jubayr ibn Mut`im reported that the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) said,

The Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) was well-known among his people for honesty before his prophethood, and used to be called "al-Ameen" (the Trustworthy). This is a name that would not be given except to one who was extremely truthful, trustworthy and upright.

Allah(Almighty) said in the Qur'an:
And [recall, O People of the Scripture], when Allah took the covenant of the prophets, [saying], "Whatever I give you of the Scripture and wisdom and then there comes to you a messenger confirming what is with you, you must believe in him and support him." [Allah] said, "Have you acknowledged and taken upon that My commitment?" They said, "We have acknowledged it." He said, "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses." And whoever turned away after that – they were the defiantly disobedient. (3:81-82)

Islam came with complete justice, as stated in the Qur'an: Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. (16:90) And do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. (5:8)

We have mentioned that the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) drew up a treaty with the Jews of Madinah and a mutual agreement that there would be no transgression. But they quickly broke that agreement and began to do that for which they are infamous: disregarding their covenants and devising plots and conspiracies.

The Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah upon him) did not wield a sword with which to force people to enter Islam, for the Qur'an is crystal clear in its refusal of this concept. Allah(Almighty) has said:
